Stellac - A wood-product innovation into a
viable business
Stellac's main products are wood-treatment units with an annual
capacity of 1,000 to 50,000 m3. Other products include electric
heat-treatment equipment and hot-drying units.
Stellac is a new Finnish high-tech company in the wood product field,
built around innovative ideas and continuous R&D. The Institute of
Environmental Technology operating in connection with Mikkeli Vocational
Institute made considerable advances in the heat-treatment of wood in
the 1990's. Tero Lallukka, one of the two owners of Stellac and its
present Managing Director, worked there as a project researcher, and
together with his partners developed industrial and commercial
applications from the results.
- Stellac was founded in 1997, the first steps being equipment
development in the company's own laboratory.
- Stellac works in close co-operation with a number of
international research institutes.
- Stellac is continuing research and development of its products
and equipment in its own laboratory.
