Stellac®Wood is durable - naturally.

Heat-treating wood means exposing timber to temperatures of up to 200¡ãC which significantly changes the properties of the wood. During Stellac® Process, the sugars in the wood are decomposed into compounds that cannot be utilized by decay fungi. At the same time, natural protective agents in the wood spread out to protect the wood material. Heat-treatment usually lasts for about 24 hours. The high temperatures not only give the wood new dark colour shades but also reduce the amount of shrinkage and swelling.

Heat-treated wood is an ecologically sustainable alternative to the tropical hardwoods and an ecological friendly alternative to the chemically impregnated wood.

Depending on the treatment level of wood Stellac® Treatment improves the resistance to decay as well as dimensional stability, water absorption, shrinkage and swelling of the wood. Furthermore Stellac® Treatment results in increased surface hardness and heat insulation. Stellac®Treatment also changes the woods natural colour into attractive darker shade of colour. Different wood species will get a different darker shade during the process due to their natural characteristics.

Stellac® heat-treatment is suitable for all timber species. In the picture you can see on the right spruce, on the left aspen and on the backround common alder.
